Cervical Cancer, Breast Cancer & Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Camp at St. Mary's School, Vadodara

A meaningful health awareness event took place at St. Mary's School, Gorwa, Vadodara on 10 August 2024. The camp was jointly organised by Shri Shakti Charitable Trust and Aneeba Hospital, bringing together a large number of young girls under one roof to learn about some of the most important women's health topics.

What the Camp Covered

The event focused on three key areas of women's health:

  • Cervical Cancer Awareness – Girls were educated about what cervical cancer is, what causes it, and how it can be detected early. Early detection plays a big role in better health outcomes.
  • Breast Cancer Awareness – Attendees learned about the importance of regular self-examination and when to see a doctor if they notice any changes.
  • Menstrual Hygiene – A large number of girls gained practical knowledge about maintaining menstrual hygiene, which is an essential but often under-discussed part of growing up healthy.

Plantation Activity

Beyond health talks, the event also included a plantation activity, reminding everyone that a healthy community and a healthy environment go hand in hand.

Why Events Like This Matter

Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women in India, yet it is largely preventable with the right awareness and timely screening. Similarly, awareness about breast health and menstrual hygiene from a young age helps girls make informed decisions throughout their lives.

Camps like this one — held directly in school settings — ensure that health information reaches girls where they are, in a safe and familiar space.

Special Thanks

The organisers extended a heartfelt thanks to Ms. Unnati Desai (Ms. Asia Earth titleholder) and Dr. Dolly Ramani for their participation and support in making this camp a success.
