Women's Health Takes Centre Stage at Dr. Thakorbhai Patel Girls College
On Tuesday, 13 August 2024, Dr. Thakorbhai Patel Girls College joined hands with Shri Shakti Charitable Trust and JNV Sena to host an important seminar focused on cervical cancer, breast cancer, and menstrual hygiene awareness. The event began at 8:30 AM at the college campus and was aimed at educating students and faculty about early detection, prevention, and treatment options for these common yet serious health concerns.
Why This Seminar Matters
Cervical and breast cancers are among the most common cancers affecting women in India. When detected early, both conditions can be managed more effectively. Menstrual hygiene is equally important — understanding it from a young age helps women take better care of their long-term health. Events like this one play a key role in spreading that awareness, especially among young women in Gujarat.
A Strong Line-Up of Speakers
The seminar brought together a diverse group of voices from medicine, education, and social work:
- Unnati Desai – Chief Guest, Ms. Unity World Asia Earth Entrepreneur & Socialist
- Dr. Charmy Gandhi – Principal, Dr. Thakorbhai Patel Girls College
- Anilbhai Patel – Cytotechnologist
- Jiya Shailesh Parmar – Managing Director of JK Motors and Chairperson, Shri Shakti Charitable Trust
- Dr. Dolly Ramnani – MBBS (Gold Medalist), MD Gynaecology
Together, they addressed topics ranging from screening methods and warning signs to everyday hygiene practices that support women's health and well-being.
Community Commitment to Women's Health
This kind of collaboration — between a college, a charitable trust, and a community alumni network — shows how health awareness can reach women at the grassroots level. By bringing expert speakers directly to students, the event helped make medical knowledge accessible and easy to understand.
Dr. Nikhila Pachani, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist based in Rajkot, Gujarat, actively supports such community health initiatives that empower women with the knowledge they need to look after their health.
