Health Awareness Session on Cervical & Breast Cancer Held at Dr. Thakorbhai Patel Girls College

On 13th August 2024, a meaningful health awareness programme was held at Dr. Thakorbhai Patel Girls College, bringing together students, educators, and healthcare professionals to talk about two important women's health topics — cervical cancer and breast cancer.

BIMS Founder Leads the Initiative

The event was organised by Baroda Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS), Vadodara. The programme was graced by Shri Anil Patel, Founder and Director of BIMS, who has been working actively in the field of cervical cancer awareness for over 25 years. He delivered an informative and engaging talk on both cervical and breast cancer, helping students understand why early awareness and regular check-ups matter for women's health.

Dr. Nikhila Pachani, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist based in Rajkot, Gujarat, was honoured to be part of this initiative and to welcome Shri Anil Patel at the event.

Chief Guest Unnati Desai Adds Inspiration

The programme also welcomed Smt. Unnati Desai, titleholder of Miss Unity World Asia Earth, as the Chief Guest. Her presence added encouragement and motivation for the young women attending the session.

Students Receive Participation Certificates

One of the highlights of the event was seeing all students receive certificates of participation, recognising their commitment to learning about health. This simple gesture went a long way in encouraging young women to take health education seriously.

Why This Awareness Matters

Cervical cancer and breast cancer are among the most common cancers affecting women in India. Awareness, timely screening, and early detection can make a significant difference in outcomes. Programmes like this one play a vital role in bringing that knowledge directly to young women in their college years — an age when healthy habits and awareness can shape lifelong choices.

Events like this, held across Gujarat, reflect the growing effort within the medical community to reach out beyond clinic walls and into communities.

If you have concerns about women's health, cancer screening, or heart health, consider speaking with a qualified doctor or specialist. Early conversations can make a real difference.
